Solo travel & tours in Sydney, Australia

Travelling solo to Sydney, Australia sometime soon? Some people thrive on solo travel while for others it can be an extremely daunting experience but the great news is that Sydney, and Australia generally, is a safe and amazing place to travel alone. Despite the lingering fears of many who visit us that the country is filled with deadly creatures, the reality is that you are not likely to come across any in your travels unless you go out of your way to do so. And no, you will not find any of them in your Sydney hotel. (Yep we do have people ask us that) Read on for some solo Sydney travel ideas..

What can you expect on your solo travel tours in Sydney, Australia?

  1. A safe and friendly city that allows you to feel at ease and like you are in good company. You should always take care when you travel but our crime rates are low and the general feeling our tour guests get in Sydney is that people are happy and helpful and will look out for you if needed.
  2. Good public transport options that get you around the city and anywhere you need to get to fairly easily. Uber works well here and in the city centre you will only wait a few minutes for pick up. Trains, buses, ferries and the recently expanded light rail network all use the Opal Card system which lets you tap on and tap off and in some cases you can just tap with your credit card. (Be aware that unused credit on your Opal Card will not be refunded. Our Government loves revenue collection)
  3. Plenty of accommodation options for all budgets ranging from upscale hostels like The Rocks YHA to funky inner city AirBnB’s and edgy industrial style hotels like Ovolo Woolloomooloo and The Establishment Hotel. Stay in the city centre or harbourside for a shorter stay or choose a hip suburb like Surry Hills or Paddington for a longer stay in Sydney.

  4. Loads of single people out in bars and restaurants and a culture that is open to everyone. You can go out in Sydney alone and you will find loads of restaurants with dining at the bar or shared table options and if you strike up a conversation with someone you can expect that the local ‘Sydneysiders’ will be open and chatty.
  5. Excellent tour options that cater well for solo Sydney travellers in Australia. Whether it’s a formal group tour around the city, or the meetups or Instameets that are more your style you will find plenty of options to get you out in to the city and out beyond into the stunning regions that surround.
